About Our Building Center

Burke Building Center, located in Burke, South Dakota is a family owned and operated buisiness, owned by Vernon and Carole Witt. They purchased the store from Corsica Lumber in 1993 after Vern managed the store for a period of about a year.

In October of 2000 the Witts bought Gregory Lumber in Gregory, South Dakota. Their son, Bryan, was hired as manager for the store. Since then the name has been changed to Gregory Building Center.

In 2005 Gregory Building Center added rentals to their offering. Since then the rental has been expanded each year to accommodate customers needs.

The two stores currently have 8 full time employees and 2 part time employees. Our focus is to provide the best customer service for both homeowners and contractors while maintaining a fair price.

Their son Jason Witt joined the Burke Building Center in 2005 after graduating from South Dakota State University with a construction management and engineering technologies degree. Jason's main duties are computer aided design for both commercial and residential construction and overseeing general contracting jobs.
